It is very easy to make this Keto Smashed Broccoli. It is very tasty, delicious, & crispy. This dish requires only four ingredients broccoli florets; Parmesan cheese, olive oil, & seasoning which are easily available in the grocery store or even present in our homes. It is very easy to make this dish, you have to steam the Broccoli to smash it then put it on the sheet and season and bake it and you are free to do other things. We can easily customize this dish and alter the seasoning to our liking. This Keto Smashed Broccoli is prepared very quickly and only takes a total of 45 minutes to make. It only comprises 2.1g of net carbs, & 2.5g of fiber in the broccoli.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16 ounces broccoli florets
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • One tsp. Italian seasoning
  • One tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • Black pepper & salt

BROCCOLI:

  • We should use fresh broccoli to make this recipe as the frozen broccoli will get mushy.

PARMESAN CHEESE:

  • I use finely grated parmesan that is in powder form but you also freshly grate the parmesan by yourself.

OLIVE OIL:

  • Olive oil is not to fry the broccoli; we can also use avocado oil or coconut oil to do this.

SEASONING:

  • I utilize Italian seasoning to season the smashed broccoli but you can also season the broccoli with your choice of seasoning.

INSTRUCTION:

  1. Heat-up the oven for around four-hundred degrees F.
  2. Put the parchment paper on the large sheet pan.
  3. We can grab a medium pan and pour the water in the pan & put the steaming basking over the pan.
  4. Then put the florets of broccoli in the basket and place the pan on moderate flame.
  5. Allow the broccoli to get steam for 3 – 4 mints till they become soft & get a good green color.
  6. Put the broccoli on the plate to get cool down for few minutes.
  7. Then properly but gently dry the broccoli with paper or a tea towel.
  8. Take a small bowl & add the garlic powder, parmesan cheese, & Italian seasoning and mix them with the whisk.
  9. Put the broccoli florets in one layer on the baking sheet and mix the broccoli with the bottom of the glass.
  10. Then sprinkle the seasoning over the smashed broccoli.
  11. Lightly shower some olive oil on the baking tray and drizzle some salt & black pepper on them.
  12. Put the sheet in the oven and bake them for 25 – 30 minutes or till the cheese gets a nice brown color and the broccoli will get perfectly crispy.

TIPS:

  • Sprinkle the cheese on top of the smashed broccoli instead of the bottom because the cheese will get crispy and get stuck in the pan if we put it in the bottom.
  • We should properly dry the broccoli with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture before cooking because it will make the broccoli extra mushy.
  • I utilize finely grated parmesan cheese which is in powder form but you can also grate your cheese.
  • Parmesan cheese already contains salt so we should have to be careful during the addition of salt.
  • If we want to have the crispy broccoli then we should have to bake them at high heat, but we should be careful and check after 20 minutes to see if the cheese will not start to burn.
