SPICES TO USE IN FISH MARINADE?

A mixture of salt, cumin, cayenne, black pepper and lime juice for a couple of hours to give it those amazing authentic flavors. To give it that extra kick, you could also add a bit of spice to the egg white powder.

HOW LONG SHOULD I FRY MY FISH?

Depending on how big the pieces of fish you’re frying, about 30 seconds to 1 minute should do it.

CAN I FRY THIS FISH IN AN AIR FRYER?

No, it does not work. for it to deep fry correctly, get crispy and bubbly, you need to submerge the entire piece of fish coated with the egg white powder (or whey protein isolate) in hot oil.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH THESE KETO FISH TACOS?

I recommend serving either this chicken fajita salad or a small bowl of keto taco soup.

INGREDIENTS

Fish Marinade

  • ▢275 g (9.7 oz) sole (any white fleshed fish) (2-3 filets)
  • ▢1 tbsp (1 tbsp) lime juice
  • ▢¼ tsp (¼ tsp) cayenne pepper
  • ▢¼ tsp (¼ tsp) black pepper
  • ▢½ tsp (½ tsp) salt

Fried Fish Breading

  • ▢62 ml (¼ cup) egg white powder
  • ▢2 (2 ) eggs
  • ▢1 tsp (1 tsp) paprika
  • ▢Oil for frying (lard, beef tallow, coconut oil, avocado oil, ghee)

Taco Toppings

  • ▢1 large (1 large) tomato
  • ▢1 (1 ) avocado
  • ▢62 ml (¼ cups) sliced red cabbage
  • ▢62 ml (¼ cups) chopped cilantro

Taco Sauce

  • ▢4 tbsp (4 tbsp) sour cream
  • ▢2 tbsp (2 tbsp) keto mayonnaise
  • ▢1 tbsp (1 tbsp) minced garlic
  • ▢¼ tsp (¼ tsp) cayenne pepper
  • ▢¼ tsp (¼ tsp) chili oil (or tabasco, more cayenne pepper)

Keto Tortillas

  • ▢1 recipe (1 recipe) keto tortillas (I used 6 out of 8 tortillas.)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Into bite size pieces, cut your fish filets. Take a bowl(small) and add the fish filets with the spices and marinate for a good Thirty mins.
  2. Dice and chop all of your vegetables that are going to be used for topping.
  3. For the taco sauce, in a small bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. You can either you can add the sauce to a squirt bottle and drizzle it all over the tacos, or spread the sauce onto the tortillas when ready.

Make the keto tortillas recipe.

  1. Take a bowl(small) and add the 2 eggs and mix well. Take another bowl and add the egg white powder and paprika. Mix together.
  2. In a small pot, heat the frying oil until it reaches a temperature of 284F.
  3. Into the eggs, dip the fish fillet and the coat entirely with the egg white powder. Add the fish into the hot oil, once coated. Fry for Thirty secs to One minute. It shouldn’t take too long to cook, since it’s fish. It should be ready, once the batter is golden brown.
  4. Take it out of the oil and repeat with the remaining.

Assemble your taco

  1. Onto the keto tortilla, add your fried fish, vegetables and drizzle the taco sauce all over. They are now ready to serve.
    Note: Really yummy served cold as a wrap for lunch!
