I promise you won’t miss the canned soups as it has a wonderfully creamy cheesy sauce! It will fit well with your low carb and keto diets as it comes in at around 6g net carbs per serving.
What is a chicken divan?
A chicken casserole made with cheese sauce, chicken, and broccoli. For the sauce, some recipes used canned soup and mayonnaise, and sometimes curry powder is added.

Into small pieces, start by cutting the chicken and then season with salt and pepper
About 5 minutes should do it as you need to steam the broccoli just a little.
Then, on all sides, pan-fries the chicken to brown it.
Next with the sherry and the water, you’re going to deglaze the skillet.
Now to the skillet, add the onion powder, mustard, pepper, and cream cheese, and cook until the cream cheese is soft.
Finally, over chicken and broccoli, pour the cheese sauce and add Parmesan and grated sharp cheddar, then broil.

12 oz broccoli, 340g
1 tbsp olive oil
(DO NOT USE COOKING SHERRY!) 2 tbsp dry sherry
2 tbsp water
8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese, 226g
1 tsp dijon mustard
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 325F
Into pieces, cut the chicken thighs and then season with pepper and salt and put it aside for 10 minutes.
For 5 minutes, steam broccoli, or until it gets just tender, then place in casserole dish.
Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet(large) then fry the chicken for about 4 -5 minutes per side until browned on both sides (depending on the thickness) and place into a casserole dish after removing from the skillet.
Add dry sherry (DO NOT USE COOKING SHERRY!) and 2 tbsp water to the skillet you just cooked the chicken in and deglaze the bottom of the pan, then reduce the liquid amount by half, simmer – do not skip this step!
To the skillet, add onion powder, mustard, pepper, and cubed cream cheese, and cook until the cream cheese is softened.
Over chicken and broccoli, pour cheese sauce and top with Parmesan and grated sharp cheddar.
Bake for 20 minutes, and then to brown the top, broil briefly.

SHERRY Do not use cooking sherry, it has additives and salt and will not taste good in this recipe (or any recipe!)
CHEESE Don’t use the ready shredded cheese, it has added starches and therefore added carbs, it’s better if you grate your own.
