Keto Low Carb Turnip Gratin. A tasty and delicious low carb side dish! With cream and cheese, layers of thinly sliced turnip are roasted – a fantastic combination!

How to Make Turnip Gratin

With olive oil spray, spray a cast-iron skillet . The skillet makes for a good presentation, I think, but you could also use a small baking dish!

On a mandoline, slice the turnips , and into three piles, divide them . It really won’t affect the finished dish, don’t discard any slices that aren’t complete circles !
Mix together heavy cream, ¾ cup of shredded cheese in a bowl or jug (a mild cheddar would also work well but I use my usual Italian cheese blend), and black pepper.
Into the skillet, layer one third of the sliced turnips , then with a third of the cream mixture, top .
For two more layers, repeat and over the top, sprinkle more cheese .
For 25-30 minutes, roast in a preheated oven or until the turnips are tender. You could place a piece of foil loosely over the top if it starts browning on top too quickly.
Into four wedges, serve by cutting the gratin . For roasted meat or fish this dish is the perfect side dish !

  • 1 cup shredded cheese, divided

  6. Over the top, sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup cheese , and for 25-30 minutes, roast or until the turnips are tender. If the top is browning too fast, cover with foil during cooking .
