EQUIPMENT:

  • A Small bowl for Whisking
  • A Skillet.

INGREDIENTS:

TO MAKE REUBEN BOWLS:

  • Half-inch thick slices of corned Beef, 340 grams.
  • 1.5 cups of Drained Sauerkraut.
  • One cup of Carrot, shredded.
  • 5 cups of thinly sliced green cabbage (about 1/4 of a cabbage)
  • Thinly sliced green Onion, 1
  • One-fourth cup of Cornichon, Thinly sliced
  • Half Chopped Yellow onion.
  • 2 teaspoons of Caraway seeds.
  • One cup of Swiss Cheese, Shredded.
  • 1 Tbsp. of olive oil, extra virgin.

TO MAKE THE DRESSING:

  • 1.5 teaspoon of Horseradish, prepared.
  • Two tablespoons of pickle Relish, Sweet
  • 1/2 tsp of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Ketchup, 4 teaspoons.
  • One-fourth cup of Mayonnaise.
  • Black Pepper To Taste, Freshly Ground
  • 1 tsp, of Fresh Lemon Juice.
  • Salt To Taste.

INSTRUCTIONS:

WORKING TO MAKE THE DRESSING:

  1. Pick a normal-sized Container and add all the items that are listed to make the dressing.
  2. Mix well and your dressing is ready. Keep it to a side.

WORKING TO MAKE THE BOWL:

  1. First dry roast the caraway seeds until their fragrance reaches you. Carefully roast so that the seeds do not get burnt.
  2. Dish them out on a plate.
  3. Place a Skillet on the medium flame and heat the oil.
  4. Add Onion and cook it till its colour changes to light golden next add Carrot and cabbage along with Salt and Pepper.
  5. When Cabbage gets a little Tender then add Corned Beef and Sauerkraut. Mix well till they warm up.
  6. Now Spread the shredded Swiss cheese on the Beef and Cabbage Mixture and allow it to melt while being covered.
  7. Now Spread the Caraway seeds and the Cornichon on top then drizzle the pre-made dressing.
  8. At the end Garnish the Bowl with the Green Onion and then Serve.

TIPS:

  1. If you don’t like Swiss cheese then you can easily replace it with Cheddar, Mozzarella, or any white cheese.
  2. Be Alert and Careful while Roasting Caraway seeds, they can be burned with a little carelessness.
  3. You can use coleslaw mix in place of Cabbage if you can’t chop it into thin slices. This way you can’t get the big pieces of Cabbage.

STORAGE INFORMATION:

Keep any remaining from the Reuben Bowl in a container and Cover it using Cling Wrap tightly. Eat it within five days while storing the container in a chilled place.

Can I use any other cheese if I don’t have Swiss Cheese available?
It is not an issue if you don’t have Swiss cheese, you can use any of your favourite cheeses like Cheddar, Mozzarrella, or muenster. It works best.
