IS KOREAN FOOD KETO FRIENDLY?
Yes it can be keto! But not all of it is.
In Korean food, rice is standard, so obviously that is out. But for cauliflower rice it’s easy to swap out.
And to infuse Korean flavors into keto-friendly dishes, I’ve found some ways… like this keto Korean beef recipe!

On this flavorful Korean ground beef recipe, there’s no reason we should skip out.
CAN YOU MAKE THIS AHEAD?
Yes, you can definitely make this ahead of time. Because you can make the cauliflower rice and the ground beef stir fry in advance so keto ground beef recipes like this one are great.
Then, into four different containers, just portion out the beef and cauliflower rice and for the week, you have Korean beef bowl meal prep ready-to-go.
INGREDIENTS
CAULIFLOWER RICE:
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 lb Cauliflower (riced in a food processor, frozen/fresh)
- 1/2 tsp Sea salt
- 1/8 tsp Black pepper (optional)
BEEF:
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1/2 tsp Sea salt
- 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup Coconut aminos
- 1/4 cup Beef broth
- 2 tsp Sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp Ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
GARNISH:
- 1/4 cup Green onions (sliced)
- 1 tsp Sesame seeds
- (~8 ounces, sliced, optional)1 small Cucumber
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large wok, heat ONE tbsp. olive oil over medium-high heat. Add cauliflower rice. With black pepper and sea salt, season, if desired. Until it gets cooked through, saute for 3-5 minutes.
- From heat, remove the cauliflower rice, put it aside, and to keep warm, cover.
- Whisk together the red pepper flakes, beef broth, sesame oil, ground ginger, and coconut aminos in a small bowl. Set the sauce aside.
- To medium-high, turn heat back. To the wok, add another tablespoon olive oil. Put ground beef and with sea salt, season. Breaking up with a spatula and stirring occasionally, cook for about 8-10 minutes, until it gets browned.
- In the beef and add the minced garlic, make a well. Until it gets fragrant, saute for about a minute, then mix into the beef.
- Over the beef, pour the sauce. Reduce heat after bringing to a simmer, and for 3-4 minutes, simmer, until the sauce is thickened and reduced. There won’t be much liquid left.
- Among plates, divide the cauliflower rice. Top with ground beef.
- Garnish with cucumber slices, sesame seeds, and sliced green onions.
